Music coordinator information

The CMS offers curriculum advice and support to schools and school music coordinators and can also provide teachers to deliver curriculum music lessons, singing assemblies and school choirs.

School music coordinators are invited to termly meetings where they can meet other colleagues, share ideas and resources and receive updates and training.

The next coordinators meeting will be held at the Community Music Service, Fanshawe Crescent on Wednesday 10th June from 4.00-5.30. At this session, the team from ‘A minute of Listening’ will be demonstrating how to use this fantastic online resource that will be free to schools for 6 months from September.

Please contact Jo Milne  –  if you wish to attend.

Music coordinators are also kept informed of any workshops, training opportunities and programmes offered by our Hub partners and any other organisation that we think will provide a useful and quality service.

Schools and coordinators can also access the online Primary Music scheme of work, Charanga through the Music Hub at a reduced annual cost. Please contact Jo Milne for more information.

Music in the Round – Unfortunately due to the current situation with Corona-virus, the inset and concert have had to be cancelled.

Following the very successful performances of ‘Giddy Goat’ last year, Music in the Round return to Barking and Dagenham to perform, ‘Sir Scallywag and the battle of Stinky Bottom’

The hour long concerts will be held on Friday June 19th at the Broadway theatre, Barking. The concerts are interactive and pupils will join in with the songs and actions as they follow the adventures of the Sir Scallywag.

All songs, games, actions and materials are presented to teachers at the inset session at the Community Music Service (CMS) on Thursday 7th May 4.30-6.00. There is no limit to the number of teachers who can attend this inset but it is essential that each school or setting is represented at the free training session.

It is likely that, as last year, these concerts sell out very quickly so places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Please let us know which concert you would like to attend and the number of pupils and staff attending.

The next Introductory training session for Charanga will be held on Monday 13th July at St. Peters Primary School. More details will follow.
